Tree Info:
Attached is a newsletter sent out by the University of Florida regarding tree care. Please take a look!

Alligators: Attached is a link to some information about alligators. Yes, we live in Florida & so do they - we can't just make them go away. Please, please, please DO NOT FEED them!

Flood Insurance: Although we are not in a flood zone, you may want to check with your insurance company about flood insurance. Most (if not all) insurance policies do NOT cover rising water, which was a major cause of damage during Katrina. Rising water can occur due to storm surge, backed up drainage systems, and overly saturated ground unable to handle additional rain, etc...

If you notice a street light that is out, please report it to TECO. You will need the 10-digit number located on the pole for reference. You can either call TECO at (813)223-0800 or use an online report form at their website.

This is why the Architectural Review Committee does not approve temporary structures...

MOLE CRICKETS -
One of the residents of the Villages of Lake St Charles wanted to share the following:

We had to replace some of our grass due to 'mole crickets'. ...The grass first looked like it was dying in spots and then just started spreading. We finally caught on after numerous waterings/fertilizations that this wasn't the case. We had 'mole crickets'. They love bahia grasses and others too. But they come out at night usually near lights (where the street lights or other lights shine on the grass) and burrow underground to eat the roots of your grass. They sound like a cricket and do much more harm than a normal cricket. We finally replaced the grass while treating with a pesticide naming specifically 'mole crickets' on the label. We chose to use a brand Spectricide and it was called Ant Shield. But in case some of our neighbors in the community were wondering what's going on with their grass even though they water and fertilize....we wanted to share our experience. Here are some links to help too:
